I have over 15 years teaching experience as a sciences teacher and I am Head of the Chemistry department of my school.
I am an examiner/exam marker for a number of exam specifications/syllabus; which gives me further insight into how to prepare students for their respective external examinations.
I do love teaching and have experience in tutoring KS3, GCSE and AS/A2 and IB. I derive great joy in imparting knowledge and providing an improved understanding of new ideas or topics. I feel it is vital that students maintain an active and healthy mind during this time of uncertainty.
I also have a with background in chemistry research and industrial work.

Experience: I have been a science teacher for over 15 years teaching science to all year groups KS3, KS4 (includug GCSE) and KS5 (AS/A`level Chemistry and IB). I am Head of my Chemistry department and have an NPQLT qualification. I have taught a number of specifications/exam boards so I am able to adapt my teaching tools to fit any specification.
I am also experienced in teaching pupils of all abilities. I mark exam scri pts for exam boards so I have the advantage of preparing my tutees for exams from an examiners perspective as well as a classroom teacher. Being an experienced examiner to leading exam boards, I am well equipped to teach students how to assimilate exam questions (inclusive of the dreaded lengthy and wordy 6 marks question) and how best to structure the answers to such exam questions.


I adapt my tutoring to fit each tutee`s personality and ability and specific academic need. I accomplish this by being approachable and ensuring that the pupil feels comfortable in our tuition session right from the on-set. It is important that they are comfortable enough to express his/her areas of difficulties/concerns if he/she is aware of it.
Having been a classroom teacher for years, I am able to understand pupils` effective way of learning and understanding effortlessly and promptly, enablling me to adapt my lesson to suit the pupil appropriately. I am well known for igniting a spark and confidence in Chemistry (or science if it is for a GCSE student). My review will clarify this.


My tuition lessons strategies, tools and resources vary depending on the topic. It comprises of the use of past question papers, online activities, learning games (such as matching games etc), models and using everyday experiences to reinforce new ideas. These tools are by no means exhaustive. I constantly attend training sessions (CPD) to update myself on new tools, strategies and resources. Nevertheless, I do not allow the new tools to overshadow the traditional methods that may be more effective with particular tutees.
In addition, my research and industrial experience equips me with the tools to teach the exam classes, using real-life everyday examples and experiences. I am also able to use unique teaching tools that are not always available to all teaching staff.
