Information about Paul
Maths is pure hell for some. It was for me as a young boy and I thought that because I didn`t get the answers right it meant that I was no good.I didn`t understand numbers, the vocabulary used for the abstract nature of maths and it left me feeling bereft of confidence. I am glad nowadays maths is taught in a more simpler fashion and I am proof that if maths is accessible in the right way, is fun and more importantly the fear factor is removed then anyone can prosper. That is how I like to approach maths and I feel that it is a fantastic way to enjoy, and dare I say it... love the subject.
I am proud that in the three years that I have led maths, our children have become increasingly more excited by maths. They love the competitive nature of arithmetic, working together to solve problems and increasingly use vocabulary and methods even I hadn`t considered when trying to explain their reasoning. I love the thought processes, the discussions when we achieve and when we don`t and I admire how my children persevere. I cannot stress enough that removing the fear factor is so important an that is my ultimate goal - to improve your outlook on maths.
