Information about John

I am a Cam English Certified Examiner and an experienced personal tutor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from BPP University. I have an excellent record of success at all levels, including 11+ and GCSE, A-Levels, young children and adult learners. I have experience teaching students with dyslexia and dyspraxia, as well as those whose first language is not English. I speak fluent Spanish with an Advanced Fluency qualification from the London School of Economics.

I have extensive experience with independent schools` entrance exams, such as King’s College and Westminster. My key strength as a tutor is the high quality learning materials I craft for my students, both for the lessons themselves and for further practise outside of class.

In addition to supplementing children’s learning at school, I have also taught a number of students in home-schooling and school exclusion contexts, delivering a comprehensive learning and exam prep programme to prepare them for English Language and Literature GCSEs.

Availability: Inquire for availability.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have 6 years’ and over 1500hrs of tutoring experience. I teach English at all levels:

- for national exams (SATs, GCSE, A-level, degree);

- for entrance exams (11+, independent school entrance, common entrance, verbal and non-verbal reasoning);

- for personal development (eg. for children whose parents feel they are not being properly taught or stimulated in the classroom);

- to improve the quality of schoolwork (eg. developing essay structure, writing and comprehension in humanities subjects);

- reading and writing for adults (eg.for second-language students, job applications, cover letters and personal statements).

I also teach subjects other than English (including Maths, History and Spanish) to a prep-school level.
