Information about Catherine
I have been a Key Stage 2 teacher for more than 25 years and have worked in mainstream schools, special needs school and now online. I have always taught in Years 5 and 6 with a focus to prepare the students for the move up to the next level of higher education.
I always endeavour to ensure that the learning taking place in my lessons is interesting, fun and inspiring. I adapt my own teaching approaches to the needs of the students and ensure that the work is well-paced, engaging and covers all learning styles. I want students to be keen to come to lessons where learning and laughter happen alongside each other.
A little bit about myself personally: After travelling around the world in my school holidays, experiencing many countries, I took a massive change in my life 5 years ago and moved (with my husband) from the UK to Bulgaria in Eastern Europe. We started a life to become self sufficient and we have raised a variety of animals from chickens, turkeys and geese to pigs. I am able to balance this small holding farming life with my teaching and I love the gratification that this gives me. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and take great satisfaction in the progress my students make and the enjoyment they have in their own learning and achievements.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have over 25 years of experience as a Primary School Teacher working with students in mainstream settings, setting up and leading an autistic specialist unit and also teaching students with ESBD who needed additional help . I have taught English as a second language to students across the world through online classes and I also currently work part time as a Year 6 teacher for an independent online school (part time) delivering the UK primary school curriculum to a small class of pupils from across the world. I have professional qualifications in English and Special Educational Needs. My main roles within schools have been as a Class Teacher in Key Stage 2, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and also a Deputy Headteacher.
