Information about Sam

I am a third year undergraduate Mathematics student studying at Warwick University, with 2 years tutoring experience at Explore Learning and 1 year of voluntary A-level Mathematics tuition at an academy close to campus. After successful start at university (87% and 88% in the first two years - on track for a strong 1st) I`ve returned home and am looking to teach students studying Mathematics and/or Physics for GCSE, A level, or 13+ entrance exams.

As well as achieving straight A* grades at both GCSE and A-Level, my qualifications include the aforementioned tutoring position at the Explore Learning centre in St.Albans. This has taught me the importance of providing clear explanations/methods to students that approaches the problem in a way that is easy to understand and, with the use of a few examples, can be followed and practised to achieve mastery. It has also improved my organisational skills and helped me to convey ideas in a more interesting way to students of all skill levels. These skills were further strengthened after spending a year volunteering at WMG Academy, where I further improved my understanding of the A-level Mathematics syllabus and of the areas that students find most challenging.

I believe that students of all skill levels can achieve a strong grade in most subjects as long as they have received a clear enough presentation of the ideas involved and time to practise. Equipped with the right tools, any student can excel.

Sam has helped tutor Maths to my son Jamie to help him transition from School A levels to University Degree. We thought his tutoring help and support was exceptional. He came to our home each time with a fully prepared lesson and pitched the session at the right level to be challenging enough to engage. He was always punctual when he came to our home and flexible in choice allowing us to choose if we wanted the lessons at home or online. I am an experienced Art teacher... So I recognised Sam had the right temperament necessary to communicate with clarity as well as to listen when needed. Therefore, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sam as a tutor.

Sam has helped my son with `A`level Physics. He was always well prepared for the sessions, explained things/topics well and in a logical way. He also helped my son with how to answer exam questions. He is friendly and well mannered and polite.
