Hello my name is Carsten - I am a maths tutor with 11 years experience currently working at Morpeth Secondary School since September 2013.

I previously tutored a couple of students on Tutor Hunt around 10 years ago but since then I have dedicated my time exclusively to my secondary school to help deliver them success. I would now like to restart home tutoring students to help them achieve the targets they have for themselves.

My motivation to teach comes from wanting each child to do well and enjoy maths, whilst I do my best to inspire them and meet their learning style. Before working in a primary and secondary school I studied Maths with Finance and Economics at City University London achieving a 2:2.

I am a very patient and flexible tutor, instinctively understanding where a student is on a lesson by lesson basis and adapting accordingly so their motivation levels throughout the year are as high and consistent as can be.

Above all I believe there is nothing like a silly question or an unusual way that a person can solve problems. I believe success is ultimately created by confidence and students come away from sessions feeling a sense of achievement that they often use to motivate themselves further in lessons at school or by studying independently at home.

Availability: I am available to tutor from 5.30pm on weekdays after school and on Saturdays. I am also available to tutor in the holidays.

Please note for tutoring purposes that I live in the Merton region (South-West London) with my school based in Tower Hamlets (East London). I am happy to travel for home tuition in between and around these areas.

Experience: I have had the privilege of tutoring hundreds of students over the past 11 years, of all abilities and needs, ranging from Year 7 students adjusting to the demands of secondary school to Year 11 students preparing for their maths GCSE.

With regards to GCSEs, I specialise in the Edexcel spec but would be able to support in whatever spec students are following at school.

I tutor both Foundation and Higher level students and run through a mixture of tailored worksheets and exam questions to ensure students build confidence and ultimately exam success. I am always happy to go through any areas students are finding hard in class and I set and mark work accordingly.
