Information about Helen
I am a 2015 graduate from The University of Birmingham, achieving a high 2:1 in BA Modern Languages (Honours in French and Spanish) and I am now working in international recruitment across Europe - getting to put those language skills to use! Upon graduating I tutored French and Spanish at all levels for a year.
I am an organised, motivated and confident individual with a passion for languages. The 11 years during which I studied French, Spanish, German, Latin and Portuguese have enriched my commitment to the importance of learning languages to develop as an individual. This enthusiasm for languages is what drives my dedication to helping students to achieve their full linguistic potential whilst simultaneously furthering my skills and qualities as a tutor. My time studying at universities in both France and Spain has deepened my understanding of these languages and has hugely developed both my conversational and written skills.
I am responsible and an active team player with excellent people skills as well as being pro-active in the prior organisation and preparation of lessons in order to achieve maximum results. My experience ranges from helping friends and students to develop their linguistic abilities at both school and university to teaching in a school for bilingual children (French and English) where my role was to encourage the children to maintain their French speaking abilities whilst growing up in England by means of fun and interactive lessons.
Availability: I offer one to one lessons in person or via skype and my availability is highly flexible. I am also willing to travel for these lessons to make the tutoring as comfortable, enjoyable and hassle-free as possible!
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I completed work experience in a primary school where I worked with children aged 3 to 10 in either small groups or taking large classes. I helped the children in progressing with their learning as well as their social development.
For a year I volunteered 2 hours a week at a primary school where I helped children aged 4 to 5 develop their reading skills. I spent 10 minutes with each child, helping them to develop and recognise sounds in both speech and books.
On a fortnightly basis I taught at a weekend bilingual school where I helped teach a class of bilingual children to maintain their French speaking abilities whilst living in England. This is a strictly French only speaking environment to encourage the children, pushing me to be confident in a second language.
I have experience tutoring both in person and online via video calls. I also facilitate the running of virtual assessment centres for graduate interviews and can provide advice and key skills in being successful at these virtual interviews.

Helen has been great. Her multiple languages have been very useful in supplementing the three languages my son takes at school. She has provided individual resources for him and has been flexible on lesson times etc.

Helen has been one of the most supportive Tutors I have ever had. Her knowledge of the exam requirements for GCSE and also the languages is fantastic. My son has found her such a great help and in only a month he has improved. I cannot recommend Helen highly enough. So rare to find such genuine commitment in helping my son get a better grade. She has done charts and mock essays to help him practice his french, all in her own time. I am so impressed with her.

Helen is a very good tutor indeed. I would imagine that the places that she has available will fill up very quickly. She takes tutoring seriously and is very well organized. She makes a huge effort to listen to what your requirements are and then to plan a lesson around them. I would thoroughly recommend this tutor.
