Information about Alex
As a recent graduate of Worcester College, Oxford, I have had to get creative and come up with many tricks to make large amounts of information not only easy, but also fun to learn and understand. This creativity benefits my students as it turns their study time into a treat rather than a chore and as every student is different and has their own interests and perspectives, my teaching is tailored to that individual student`s needs and designed with them in mind, meaning that no two study plans are exactly alike.
I have several years experience in private tuition and also in schools where the focus has mainly been either teaching modern foreign languages and supporting children with SEN.
Whether at QEHS or Oxford University I achieved excellent grades in all my exams and I want to share my experience and knowledge so that you can also achieve your potential.
Availability: I`m currently available all day during the school summer holidays and evenings and weekends thereafter.
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: Over the last decade I`ve worked with children and adults including those with SEN and physical disabilities. This has involved both one-to-one private tuition, homework support, taking classes in schools and general childcare. I have worked with children of all ages (0-18). During my degree I also was able to continue private tutoring (via Skype in university term time), act as a mentor to teenagers from one of Oxford University`s target outreach areas and volunteer in a primary school during the university breaks.
I have lived abroad in Germany, Sweden and Russia, so consider myself very well acquainted with not only the languages, but also the cultural contexts from which they cannot be isolated.
My degree (in German) included modules in Russian, Medieval German, linguistics and Old Norse.
