Information about Jill
I offer Zoom lessons during lockdown periods. I teach a number of students from London on Zoom.
I am an Advanced Skills Teacher of English and a former Head of English with 27 years experience. I have a consistent track record of highly successful GCSE results and have worked extensively with borderline students. In 2019, all of my Year 11 students achieved a Grade 5 or above. I work as a consultant for a major exam board. I am an author of KS3 and GCSE print and digital textbooks and resources for Oxford University Press and current exam boards. I have extensive access to the latest resources and thinking in teaching. I have worked as an Intervention Teacher, raising results for the schools I have worked with. I teach a number of students from London on Zoom.
Whilst my experience is in secondary teaching, I am also able to offer literacy and comprehension skills at primary level and English as a foreign / additional language.
I am extremely knowledgeable and experienced in teaching all of the major GCSE English exam board specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas). I have written the official online answers for the endorsed exam board work-books.
My approach to teaching English is rigorous but I believe that learning should be enjoyable and I aim to encourage a love of language and an increased confidence in my students.
