I am a science graduate in Biochemistry from Queen Mary University of London. I am currently an A-level Biology Teacher at an Outstanding Sixth Form Academy located inner Bradford. My qualifications include A-level Biology and Chemistry, MSci Frist Class Honors degree in Biochemistry, QTS and PGDE in Teaching and Learning. My journey into teaching Science began with the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. My reasons for taking this particular route into teaching as opposed to others is specifically linked to the vision of TF, in supporting young people from relatively disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their full potential in life. Originally being located in London, I chose to complete the programme in West Yorkshire, due to the greater demand of quality STEM teachers required in disadvantaged communities up in the North. I was thrilled that the vision of TF was mirrored in my placement school, in making a difference to the North Halifax community, inspiring each and every student to achieve their full potential through high-quality teaching. I continue to work towards this goal, however now in a different educational environment teaching A-level Biology within inner Bradford.

Experience: I have experience teaching students ranging from the age of 11 to 18, in establishments that include secondary schools and sixth form colleges. I am currently looking for new tutees to work with. Having spent four years studying Biochemistry at a top London Russell Group University, I have gone on to successfully teach GCSE Sciences at an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School, and now A-level Biology which I am teaching at a Sixth Form Academy. My specialism is A-level Biology with a strong focus on AQA and OCR specifications for A-level and GCSE. I believe tuition is important for many students for a number of reasons, this could be to boost confidence to enable students to answer questions correctly during exams, to help students understand concepts they have not understood during lessons taught and mainly to help students achieve their target grades or above in many cases. My teaching methods mainly combine learning content thoroughly alongside exam techniques to make sure students are able to interpret and answer the questions correctly. I personalise and tailor tuition sessions to the needs of the student and if one thing doesn`t work then I am flexible to change. I love watching students develop in their confidence and gain academic success. Using questioning and guidance, I will ensure students become independent and resilient in the way that they learn and grow in confidence. I will tailor the work we cover closely to the work being studied at school to reinforce and add depth to knowledge and to improve exam technique.
