Information about Lissa
I am currently in my 3rd year of studying Medicine on the Graduate Entry Programme at Southampton.
As a graduate of a masters in Medicinal Chemistry from UCL, I have detailed knowledge of chemistry and the biological sciences, as well as plenty of experience with studying and preparing for exams! I am also fluent in French, having studied it at A-level before spending time as a teaching assistant in France during my gap year.
I thoroughly enjoy engaging students in the subjects I love and the reward of breaking down complex concepts, with an approach that puts key matters in wider, relevant and applicable context.
Availability: Weekdays and evenings, as well as most weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: As an Explainer at the Science Museum, London, I loved sharing my enthusiasm for science and engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in the museum, as well as performing science shows and demonstrations to wide audiences.
I currently work part-time as a Science Mentor in an education organisation providing hands-on and educational workshops for children aged 6-11.
Living in France as a French language teaching and activity assistant (for English schoolchildren) improved my French speaking to fluency, as well as first sparking my passion for teaching.
I also have extensive experience in both volunteer and professional roles with children, teenagers and young people, including in healthcare and citizenship education.
