Information about Laurence
I am a qualified teacher and exam board marker, with over 25 years of teaching experience of A Level Physics. I offer Online tuition with the first trial lesson half price. I have been a professional tutor for the last 3 years with hundreds of hours tuition experience. Previously I spent the last 19 years of my teaching career teaching at one of the top performing state school in the South West of England based in Keynsham, for the last 5 years my role was Lead teacher for science. My particular strength is preparing students for A level and GCSE exams. I have a calm and patient manner with students and believe in making explanations as simple as possible.
As well as teaching I am an experience exam board marker at both GCSE and A level. Giving me a special insight into what exam boards expect in an answer which I aim to pass on in my tutoring.
I am based in Longwell Green and normally happy to tutor in the Keynsham / Saltford / Longwell Green / Hanham/ Emerson`s Green/ Winterbourne areas as well as considering areas further afield. I also offer online tuition. I offer a discount to students who come to me however due to COVID-19 virus I can only undertaking Online tuition until further notice.

Experience: 25 years’ experience of teaching Physics across the 11-18 age range and across a wide range of abilities from students with special educational needs right through to preparing students for Oxbridge interviews. I have taught KS3 Science, GCSE Physics and A level physics. I have experience in tutoring OCR, AQA EDEXCEL and WJEC exam boards. As well as tutoring IGCSE.
Exam technique is an essential part of my tutoring philosophy so as well as understanding the physics we will focus on how to answer exam questions. I offer Personalised one to one tuition. Either in the home or via the internet. I discuss with each student individually what their particular aims are before commencing lessons. I will tailor the tutoring session to your needs each week be that a particular topic or preparing for a test.

Laurence tutored my son for his A level Maths. As an experienced teacher he offered helpful advice about revision and had useful resources including past papers. My son found his lessons good for improving his understanding of specific areas and exam questions that he was struggling with. On-line tutoring is not ideal but Laurence makes it work very effectively and we were very happy with the progress that our son has made.

After missing so much time at school due to the lockdown, we were keen to get some additional support from a tutor. My daughter has had several A-level physics sessions now with Laurence. From a practical point of view, communicating with him to arrange sessions has been very straightforward and the technology for the online sessions is working effectively. From an academic perspective, my daughter is finding the sessions very useful. Laurence is taking her through topics where she lacks confidence and making sure her learning is consolidated. We`re very pleased with his work and would definitely recommend him as a tutor.

I have been quite satisfied with the lessons which Laurence has provided so far. My son is pleased with the lessons and has commented how thorough the lessons have been, with Laurence taking time to test his understanding of the last topic/ lesson each time.

Laurence has been a very good tutor for our daughter. He is very experienced with the Physics curriculum and displays a clear and precise understanding of the specification requirements. He also teaches giving a good approach to test technique. He has a friendly and approachable manner and is flexible with tutoring timings. Would recommend him!
