Information about Sam

Hi! I`m Sam, an undergraduate student studying towards a Masters in physics at the University of Oxford. Physics and maths are two of my passions; studying the universe and the interactions within give me a sense of complete awe and wonder. I take great pleasure in sharing this sense of discovery with others and look forward to helping you with your course!

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: In the past, I have tutored family members and friends from the ages of 14-18 (in total ~ 30 hours). My
lessons are interactive and involve lots of questions and short quizzes. They focus on regular testing -
research showing this to be most effective for remembering information. I place an emphasis on exam
technique due to its importance in exam success, which I teach via the use of past papers. Finally, I make my lessons entertaining, varying the style of learning and using real-world examples to bring the
content to life.

I have also taught a year 9 GCSE Maths class of 30 over the space of one term (equating to 20 hours of teaching), which involved planning lessons via Powerpoint, preparing original worksheets and marking their work with constructive feedback.

In summary, I have extensive experience in the role of the tutor and a passion for teaching and helping others.

Great tutor. Works wonderfully with my son on his A-level physics. Has been flexible and worked around us, which has been an unfortunate necessary evil just recently with uni open days etc. works to my sons needs and ensures he understands, not only the topic, but how to answer questions appropriately. Very recommended tutor!

Sam is currently teaching Maths to my 15 year old son and in couple of weeks he has already been a very positive influence on him. Sam keeps things simple and relaxed apart from being a very fine tutor, which are hallmarks of a very good teacher.
