Information about Rebecca
I am an Edinburgh University graduate with a first-class degree in English Literature. I am looking to tutor English online for Primary, KS3, GCSE, A-Level and Pre-U.
My aim in teaching English Literature is not only to improve my student`s grades, but to instil within them a real passion for English Literature - I am keen to make subjects like essay writing and practical criticism something that my students will be excited about, by prioritising thorough, independent understanding, as opposed to pragmatic rote learning. My university work has been recommended as publishable, and I hope to pursue an English Literature Masters degree in the next few years.
Availability: I am based in North London and am available on weekday evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: As well as my aforementioned academic experience, I also have a lot of experience working with children and young people, including as an English Teacher at a summer school programme at West London Free School. I have experience tutoring English Literature for GCSE students, and have worked within curriculum research for Glasgow-based educational charity, Licketyspit. I have an advanced DBS check.
Other experience with children and teaching includes earning a youth leadership qualification, running youth camps and local drama schools.
These have cultivated my aptitude for communication and personal interaction, and allow me to offer methods of teaching on a consciously individual basis.
