Information about Meera
As a self-motivated, diligent student myself, I am able to empathise with and relate to students striving to maximise their full potential and achieve the grades they are capable of attaining. I aim to provide the personalised support required in order to accomplish this. Having studied for a BSc and an MSc in scientific subjects, and now as a medical student, I have developed skills specific to the study of science to ensure success in both exams and in coursework. I enjoy facilitating students in conquering their academic challenges and learning to love the fascinating and dynamic field of biology.
My approach focuses on empowering students to progress whilst building and maintaining confidence and motivation. I believe it is important to establish a student`s personal objectives and integrate these into my teaching aims and methods. Inevitably, my approach to tutoring varies according to the given timeframe and circumstances. For example, `crash course` style revision demands a more intensive and exam-orientated approach compared to an all year-round tuition course, focused on building knowledge and targeted revision techniques. My principle objectives are i) to establish a student`s academic objectives ii) identify any challenges in accomplishing these objectives iii) devise and implement strategies to achieve these objectives effectively and efficiently whilst negotiating any challenges iv) evaluate whether these strategies have been successful in achieving the desired objectives. Having optimised my scientific study strategies over the years, I aim to pass these on to students to enable constructive and productive revision, which will build confidence and ultimately lead to excellent performance in exams.
