Information about Lucy
I`m an experienced teacher of English at all levels and have consistently maintained outstanding teaching throughout my nine year career, all of which I have taught GCSE English Language and Literature to year 10 and 11. In 2015, I began teaching A Level Literature and have since added A Level English Language to my specialisms. In my role as Key Stage 3 Coordinator, I was responsible for students across years 7-9 making progress, as well as curriculum design and improvements.
I have studied teaching and pedagogy closely and my most recent promotion has been to whole school Professional Development Lead, working closely with other teachers to improve their practice. I am well-read in teaching methods and, having taught mixed attainment classes for my whole career, am finely attuned to understanding what each student needs. I`ve taught children with EHCP plans who might take alternative qualifications, right up to students who leave school with a grade 9 in English.
Ultimately, I love my subject and find it incredibly rewarding to teach, but also to get students to enjoy, especially where they are experiencing a block with the subject for whatever reason or need to be pushed towards a higher working grade.
