Information about Jonathan
I am 57, have a background in engineering, and have been teaching and providing 1-2-1 tutoring for about 8 years.
I find that the 1-2-1 tutoring gives pupils more of an opportunity to get real improvements in what can be a tricky subject.
I enjoy seeing my pupils build their skills and confidence, and developing their exam technique, and so far all have achieved great results. I aim to make my lessons fun for pupils, but as a parent myself, I am conscious of providing value for money, and Im always professional, prompt and prepared. I can tutor individually, or in small groups of up to 3, and I am prepared to travel up to 8 miles.
This past year I`ve obviously been doing tuition online via Skype. Whilst this works OK, there are some limitations (all screen sharing is one-way only) and I`m looking forward to returning to face-to-face tuition once it is safe to do so.
Availability: Weekday daytimes or evenings. Normally tuition works best if sessions are arranged regularly. Usually this is once (for an hour) per week, but other arrangements are possible, either fortnightly, or more frequently in the build-up to assessments or exams.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I took my PGCE 16 years ago, and have tutored pupils at all levels in Mathematics since then. As probably most tutors do, I specialise in exam preparation (GCSE and A-level across all exam boards). With an engineering background, I have used parts of the maths which is taught in school in a real-world environment, and I find that showing the relevance of the topic is helpful to many of my pupils.
