Emily

I grew up in London and then studied a BA in English at Bristol University. I went on to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and worked as an actor for a number of years, touring with prestigious companies including Kneehigh Theatre, the Sydney Opera House, Oxford Playhouse and the Bristol Old Vic. I ran arts development workshops in America, the Philippines and South Africa for the Department of International Development. Following my passion for filmmaking I worked at documentary company CTVC in Islington, and then went on to study an MA in Directing Fiction at the National Film and Television School, where I was sponsored by Channel 4. Alongside my work in theatre and film I have continued to teach English and Drama both to individuals and groups. I am passionate about enabling people to communicate confidently and feel empowered in their literacy and language.

Experience: I have privately tutored for Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level in English and Drama.
I was Director in Residence at Portsmouth Grammar School for a year, which involved teaching Drama GCSE and Theatre Studies A Level.
I taught English as a foreign language for the Associone Culturale Linguistica Educationale in Italy for three summer seasons.
I co-ran the Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre Weekend and summer school sessions.
I have taught for City Academy for a number of years - running workshops in Improvisation, Storytelling, Acting and Text.
