Information about Laura
Hello, I am Laura,
An enthusiastic, young and joyful bi-lingual (French and English) tutor with a love for all things mathematical, recently graduated with Bsc honours in Mathematics and Education from Stirling University, with a view of becoming a secondary maths teacher, specialising in additional support needs.
Availability: In terms of sessions I prefer to work with my students on a one to one bases, as it allows for more personalised sessions. But I am more than comfortable to work with a small group, of no more than 3 students. I am available Monday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm and weekends 11:30 until 9pm for sessions. I am flexible in terms of the length of sessions, 1 - 3 hour.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: With the education section of my degree, I gained experience in a wide range of teaching methods and pedagogies, with deep insight into the curriculum for excellence. Through my course placements I have gained experience working with primary and secondary pupils, including those with additional support needs such as dyslexia. Being dyslexic myself I have learned to work with it rather than against it, developing methods and techniques that help to manage dyslexic tendencies when interpreting exam questions, dealing with confusion and managing exam time.
My unique perspective when dealing with mathematics will allow me to relate to the clients needs and develop a tailored tutoring programme that specifically addresses the desired areas for development in the student. If you or your child is in need of that extra attention to detail or needs to develop exam methods that work for them, my slightly different approach could help them to achieve the needed skills and confidence to succeed in Maths.
