I have taught students to excel in my career as both a Head of History and Head of Humanities Faculty in Berkshire state schools. I have taught History & Economics to A Level as well as RS & Geography to GCSE.

This has led to my current role at the University of Reading and I am seeking to build up my tutoring portfolio alongside this.

I focus on building positive relationships with my students through ensuring high standards alongside supportive techniques. I have a keen interest in how we learn and have lectured other teachers in this area. By sharing these techniques with you, you will be able to unlock much more productive learning and revision.

Each student`s journey is unique and we will begin by assessing strengths and areas for development. Using this we will build a bespoke plan together that will work towards achieving your goals, through a variety of activities including fun recall challenges, modelled excellence and live marking.

Whether you are aiming to secure an A* / grade 9, progress multiple grades or write an impactful personal statement, I will support you to achieve this goal. Every single student is capable of excellence - we just need to be shown how to achieve this.

Availability: I am available to tutor most weekday afternoons / evenings and some weekend slots. Please do send an enquiry with some times that would work for you and I will do my best to fit with these.

Experience: My 9 years teaching experience in UK state schools includes 3 as Head of Department and 4 as Head of Faculty.

I have achieved outstanding GCSE and A Level results in both History and Economics. My students outperform the national, local and school averages underlining my ability to develop students rapidly in line with exam requirements.

For example, in 2023 my History GCSE results had a progress score of 1.44 (students on average scored 1.44 grades above their targets) in a school where the average progress was 0.63. This means my students significantly overperformed in the subject due to my teaching and goal-setting techniques.

I have also heavily support students through the UCAS process, including Oxbridge preparation, and I am now further equipped to support students in this process with my role at a leading University.

I have taught History and Economics through GCSE and A Level. I specialise in the Edexcel exam boards but have good experience of other boards.
I have taught Geography and RS to GCSE level.
I would also be able to support students in English tutoring at GCSE level.
