Information about Kaiya

RECENT GRADUATE FROM OXFORD UNIVERSITY, having gained а 2:1 degree in Classics at Oxford and graduated from The Forge Initiative Drama School

My particular strengths lie in a holistic method of tutoring academic success, attitude and welfare are intrinsically linked. I aim to prime all my students with exam preparation and technique as well as instilling positive work ethic, a passion for learning and self-care.

I work closely with each individual to understand what they want to achieve and help with research and organised preparation to realise their goals.

I learnt Latin and ancient Greek from scratch at University and so have experience with learning languages and understanding what assistance individuals might need when picking up languages. I tutor Classical Civilisations, Latin, Ancient Greek, History, French and English as a second language. I also have experience with interview preparation and can help with personal statements. I have tutored younger children with Specific Learning Difficulties and am happy to do more general Study Skills and Soft Skills sessions.

I am available to tutor in Clapham but also am willing to travel to most areas of London

Availability: Evenings, weekends and some weekdays

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I run adult drama and performance workshops for those with no performing experience.

Head Runner for St Hilda’s College (December 2014)
Headed a team of 30 to co-ordinate interviews for the Oxford College, ensured the perspective students were cared for and as happy as possible. Following this experience, I have a great insight into how Oxford colleges select their students.

Director’s Assistant at JACT’s Bryanston Summer School (August 2012 and August 2013)
Acted as a coordinator for the daily running of the summer school and encouraged young people’s involvement in Classics.

Au Pair (July & August 2011)
Cared for four Italian children daily for 5 weeks in Rome, helped to improve their English with daily lessons, exercises and games.

Teaching assistant at Batley Grammar School
In my final year at school I mentored younger students in Maths, English and French as well as supporting them pastorally.
