A dynamic, motivated Mathematics practitioner, I possess excellent time-management, organisational and communication skills. I have currently four years of experience as a Teaching Assistant teaching Learners Mathematics in the adult learning sector. From my group work within Royal Holloway I have learned to listen and step forward when necessary, providing input to problem solving and team-leading when required. Producing presentations and explaining my reasoning with continual reflection of my progress being a key trait. The interaction I have had with the Learners in this sector have given me an appreciation and understanding in the way I deliver my support. The Maths I have been exposed to at University has helped me to deliver Mathematics more constructively.

My native language is Russian and I have had cause to use this on a number of occasions when I had to talk with students from Russia and other Baltic countries.

My responsibilities include:
• stood in for the Tutor occasionally, addressing the Learners explaining different aspects of their course,
• giving feedback,
• working one-to-one with the learners,
• organise group work and resources for the session,
• marking scri pts,
• supporting Learners who have learning difficulties,
• updating the progress of Learners on the computer,
• advising Learners on different methods of mathematical applications,
• demonstrating communication skills by presenting Learners a number of presentations, using Powerpoint, Whiteboard and handouts outlining the key points of the course and its content.
• Using my native language, Russian, I have been able to support Learners by explaining to them in Russian mathematical concepts.
I expanded my communication skills with a diverse age range of Learners. This has helped me to understand how to deliver different concepts of Mathematics to many divergent groups.

Building on my KS2 and KS3 experience, I was exposed to an older age range of Learners which gave me an insight into their learning difficulties. I learned a lot from the Tutor of this course in how to handle and engage with these Learners.

This broadened my horizons while thinking about a career within education. Some students who were native to Russia, I was asked to assess. I was able to speak with them in their own language, to help them.

Volunteer Teaching Assistant in Ballet classes
At eleven years old I was offered this position which I relished. I supported my Teacher in teaching Ballet students from three to six years of age. This has given me an insight into dealing with groups of people under my care. I feel this has improved my confidence to work either in a team or independently. I found that assisting in the teaching of such a young group to be extremely challenging and rewarding. I came to realise that young people need direction and guidance in their lives. This was a good lesson for me to learn.
