Jonny

My name is Jonny and I live in Saffron Walden.

I grew up in Hertfordshire where I completed my A-Levels in Politics, History and Religious Studies, and my passion for all things political took me to the University of Sheffield. I studied a BA in Politics in Sheffield as well as starting a career in journalism.

From Sheffield, I came back to London where I studied for a Masters in African Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. This took me to Tanzania for a summer, conducting research and teaching at a local school in a town called Arusha in Northern Tanzania.

After 5 years working in Publishing as well as keeping up a career in freelance writing, writing articles on politics and current affairs for various websites and magazines, I now head up the digital communications for a national homelessness charity. I`m keen to impart some of my enthusiasm for politics and also history onto students, as I believe that my passion will inspire and enthuse them in their studies! I`ve covered a lot of different areas of politics- British, American, European and International, and for history- 20th century European history, British history specifically, as well as Economic History.

Experience: I taught at a secondary school in Tanzania whilst there on a research trip, teaching predominately English but also history, and whilst at university I organised and facilitated a group of seminars for students thinking about university, as part of the Politics Department.

I have been tutoring since 2016.
