Information about Andrew
I have been a journalist for 25 years, with my work covering many different areas of the media: namely local newspapers, magazines, television text, television production and websites.
I originally qualified as a computer programmer/systems analyst at Manchester Metropolitan. The course included programming, systems analysis and statistical analysis.
I then did a one-year teacher training course at Garnett College in London where I received a Certificate in Education, enabling me to become a lecturer at Colleges of Further Education.
Availability: I am happy to commit to three days a week, including Saturday.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: For more than 15 years I have designed, compiled and interrogated Microsoft Access databases as part of my work in the media.
The information extracted from these databases has been used to provide statistics for BSkyB, various publications (magazines/newspapers) and numerous websites.
The output has taken many different forms, ranging from simple cross-tabulated information to more analytical statistics generated by mathematical equations.
The information, which is usually presented in Alphabetical and/or Performance order, is usually converted to either Excel spreadsheets or Word documents.
During the past decade I have also used SQL in a minor capacity to assist me when querying my Access databases.
My analytical skills were first developed as a statistician / researcher / scri pt writer for the golf broadcasting department at Sky Sports.
