Maria

I am a PhD student in Linguistics in King`s College London. My research is funded by the AHRC, and I have worked as a teacher of Greek in the Hellenic Centre of London and in Manor Hill Greek school for the past two years. I am also currently part of the programme team for the BA in English Language and Linguistics in King`s College London, hence I have varied experience on language teaching. I hold two MA degrees with Distinction, one in Discourse Studies from the University of Lancaster and one in Contemporary Media from the University of Wolverhampton. I got my BA with Honours at the University of Athens, on Greek and Latin Language and Literature (Honours) and I am a native Greek speaker. This is my fifth year living in the UK, and my fourth year in London! I love teaching and I always try my best to help my students reach their full potential. I am interested in teaching Classics (Ancient Greek), Latin, Modern Greek at any level, as well as English (up to B2 level).

Availability: I am available every morning and afternoon during the week, except for Thursdays, and all day on Saturday.

Experience: I am a native Greek speaker. I have taught different levels of Modern Greek, from Beginners to Advanced in the Hellenic Centre of London for the past two years. I have also worked with Year 3 students learning Modern Greek in Manor Hill Greek School. I am also currently delivering seminars and a number of lectures for the BA in English Language and Linguistics offered by King`s College London. Before moving to the UK, I worked for five years as a private tutor in Greece, teaching Ancient Greek, Latin and Modern Greek for students in primary and secondary education. I have also done my teaching practice in Ancient and Modern Greek, and Greek Literature in a Greek High School. I hold a Licence to teach English, issued by the Greek Ministry of Education.
