Information about Galyna

As a mature bilingual (Russian native) person with degrees in Business, Chemistry, IT completed in different countries. I have extensive experience of teaching the different age (from the nursery to adults) and levels of students including students with various SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs. I am a qualified teacher (in more than one country including UK). In 2021 I graduated with MA in Education (LSBU).

Science: I teach all three sciences up to GCSE level. I try to make students to understand scientific processes rather than remembering tonnes of information. It makes students more confident in their knowlesges and results in high results on exams.

Russian: I am not just having 12 years’ experience of private tuition in Russian. I also owned and run the Russian language school for more than eleven years. I created curriculum for the school and tailored some targets to the individual aims. For example, one of the mature students asked me to teach him Russian in three months. I accepted the challenge but my student couldn`t cope pressure between work and studies and gave up the half-way through :). Also, in my Russian language school I had been teaching the teachers to teach Russian. The teachers, who I trained in my school, are still working in different schools around the UK.

Maths: Maths tutoring could include intensive GCSE exam preparation. For example, with one of my private learners we had the several 6 hours long Maths marathons. It helped him to improve his exam grade from 5 to 7 (his desired grade was 6).

Special Needs: I work with excluded teenagers with challenging behaviour and tailor curriculum to the needs of the individual needs of every student.
In my work with learners with special educational needs my teaching based around activation the student`s sensory stimuli. It usually reduces length of both introductory as well as transitional periods and improve studying outcome.

My dissertation was about educational motivation of the teenagers with challenging behaviour. I researched use of the science lessons/activities for re-engaging excluded learners with education.

I am looking to pursue a new challenge in a position where motivation comes from kids` natural interests to explore surrounding into positive behavioural changes, attitude or studying.

Experience: I have teaching experience in Maths, Science, Russian and number of subjects for learners with SEND.
Science: my teaching experience started in 1989 in a small Siberian village, than contunued in the Army, where I taught soldiers in Chemical warfare to react on emergency situation.
Maths: My favourite subjects are Maths and Physics... I have no degree in Maths but on my two universities the half of subject were Higher Maths, Physics and Electronics. In the UK I teach Maths to different levels including 11+ and GCSE level.
Science: I teach science in one of the secondary schools in Bedfordshire.
IT: I can teach Python.
Russian: I have experience in teaching different age groups from 3 years old and the eldest my student was 76 years old.
As a teacher I use different techniques, strategies and methods (depends from the age, learning styles level of schooling, etc) to raise confidence with the chosen subject and draw the best abilities from a student.

Special Needs and Challenging Behaviour: The other area of my interest lays in teaching adolescents with Special needs and sensory issues. It could be different subjects depends from the learner needs. Apart from academic subjects I have reach experience in teaching relationship intervention, employability, planning transitions, independent skills, cooking and many others.
