Information about Lorraine
I am a mother of three children, one of whom took Spanish at A level. I speak spanish fluently as I lived in Venezuela as a child and worked in Madrid as an adult. I also studied Spanish at school and University. I thoroughly enjoy teaching spanish and after helping a neighbour`s daughter and others they commented on how much it helped and asked why I didn`t do it professionally.
As a parent, I know how important it is for us and our children to do well in their exams. Having the experience of getting my own children through their GCSE`s, I decided I would like to offer my experience to help others. I am also happy to teach conversational spanish for those interested in improving for their holidays or moving abroad.
Availability: Most days/evenings except Mondays 3-4pm, 7-8pm, tuesdays 4.00pm until 7.00pm and Saturdays 2-3pm.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have taught computing in an adult learning centre in the past and have been tutoring spanish for the last 3 years to a range of students. Having used tutors in other subjects for my son, and having tutored my son (getting a A ) and others through their GCSE`s I know how important it is to build up their skills and confidence. I am fully conversant with the GCSE and A level syllabus and believe that with practice and confidence they can easily move up a few grades. I am happy to go through past papers and provide input on their oral assessments. It is also important to listen to as much spoken spanish as possible to build on the vocabulary and pronunciation. Most importantly, I have only decided to tutor because I enjoy the language and teaching others to improve and grow in their confidence. I am happy to teach most age groups or levels and have tutored young children in basic spanish, students at GCSE level and AS level and adults in conversational spanish who are completely new to the language.

Lorraine has been away so we have only met once. I found her friendly, helpful and ready to take on an 80 year old.- quite a challenge.
Tutors Response :
Not a challenge at all. It`s a pleasure to teach someone with your enthusiasm to learn. Looking forward to our next session.

She really helped me with my Spanish AS oral exam. I am doing Edexcel which she was not so familiar with but she found out about the syllabus to help me. I found practising speaking with her very helpful as this was the area I thought I needed most help with, and I felt much more confident going into the exam. Has given me lessons at short notice to fit in with my schedule which has also been great.
