Hello!

I am a qualified teacher and private tutor with an excellent track record of student successes both in an outside the classroom. I have over a decade of experience teaching English at KS3, GCSE and A Level in both state and independent schools. A love of reading and literature initially inspired me to teach English, and I like to think that my enthusiasm for the subject comes through in my lessons.

I am an examiner for AQA GCSE English Language and know the exam board inside out, with an excellent understanding of what is required for both exams and how to help students succeed.

I also have experience in teaching the new Worlds and Lives poetry anthology for first examination in 2025.

Over the years I have built up a wealth of resources and techniques to teach students how to respond to any question they face. I tend to loosely work term by term through the different papers (lang and lit) usually tackling a question per session. I feel strongly about providing quick, detailed feedback and encourage students to complete work in or outside of our sessions for marking. Mock exams are always useful to have a look at: we can review them together and discuss how you might move up to the next level. I am a firm believer that - whatever your ability - with the right guidance and hard work, any student can increase their grades.
