Information about Estella
I am a friendly, caring English teacher who relishes the opportunity to help and guide young people with their education. I have a combined degree in English Literature and Latin from the University of Leeds as well as a PGCE in English and Drama. I have many years` experience of working in four schools twice as Head of English. I have been a GCSE and IGCSE examiner for the last twenty five years so I am fully conversant with examination requirements for AQA,OCR Edexcel, Eduqas and IGCSE.
I am happy to tutor English at any stage of education, although the main bulk of my experience is with students in the 9-16 range (Key Stages 2, 3 & 4).
In addition, I have a proven track record of success in independent school English entrance exams, KS 2 English SATS and 13+ English. My GCSE pupils did very well this year, their grades boosted by their hard work with me prior to lockdown. Lots of 7s, 8s and even a few 9s!
I am now taking bookings for Year 11 GCSE pupils who need help to succeed in this vital core subject or Yr 10 pupils who would like a boost with their GCSE texts.

Estella has really helped our 2 daughters entering year 11. Estella has given them extensive feedback on exam technique, has provided them with a considerable amount of helpful information and resources, and given them confidence to tackle GCSE English questions. I would highly recommend Estella.

Estella is a very patient, calm and very knowledgeable tutor. She has a excellent child centred approach and is able engage and keep a child focused for an extended period. She adapts each lesson accordingly and builds upon their strengths and weaknesses. She provides useful feedback and helps build their exam techniques. My daughter thoroughly enjoys all her lessons and loves the reading books that she recommends! I would strongly recommend her. Thank you for all your hard work and effort.

My son was really, really impressed with Estella. He said she really knew her stuff and coming from a 16 year old boy that is massive praise. From a parents’ point of view, Estella was super organised and obviously knew the books and texts in great depth. She was able to coach our son in what was required to obtain a good GCSE English pass , both in language and literature. She coached our son in exam techniques and his confidence in himself and his ability to do well in English increased enormously. Estella pushed him hard, he worked hard and we can only expect that Estella’s commitment to ensuring our son did well plus his increased focus will yield great results in August. We would highly recommend Estella.
