Information about Emily
I graduated a year ago with a Masters in Physics (First Class) from Exeter University. I now work for an educational publishers and have learnt a lot over the past few years. I`ve always enjoyed tutoring because because I`m enthusiastic about passing on my knowledge of Maths and Physics to others. Outside of education I enjoy swimming, yoga, art and cooking.
I believe one of the key elements to teaching Physics and Maths is knowing that everyone is capable of learning these subjects. Although they may seem daunting at first, I will be able to explain and teach in different ways that make the problem a lot clearer and simpler. No problem is too big or too small, so whether it be exam technique, further understanding of a topic or just working out what on earth is going on, I can help!
I will be able to make the subject more interesting, through interactive learning and different teaching methods, therefore engaging the student more. Having gone straight from school to University I can remember exactly what it was like to go through GCSEs and A-levels. And as a University student I had plenty of exams myself, so I can easily sympathise with other students! I also believe it is never too late to learn something new, whether you are looking to further your education or just learn for fun.
Availability: I am available Monday-Thursday evenings.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Since starting, I have tutored 8 students 5 studying for A-level Physics, 1 studying for GCSE Physics and 2 studying for GCSE Maths.
I have also been a volunteer demonstrator at the IOP Festival of Physics at Plymouth University and have also been a mentor to first years just starting Physics at Exeter University.
