Information about Storm
Im a genetics, epidemiology and all-round biology enthusiast keen to help students achieve their goals through teaching exam content and techniques to all levels of students in a fun and engaging way!
I hold a first class degree in BSc Biomedical Science from the University of Surrey where I also completed a year in industry working in a microbiology lab. I am currently working in the publishing industry as Commissioning Editor of the Journal `Epigenomics` (epigenomics is the study of modifications on the genetic material of a cell), where I read and edit field-leading research.
Im passionate about the arts and English and enjoy reading, writing and critically analysing texts which is reflected in my English Literature A-Level grade A.
Whatever you are struggling with or perhaps just need practice with, I`m here to help each step of the way, with tailored tutoring to your learning style.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have always enjoyed teaching, mentoring and helping others, becoming a Literacy Ambassador during Sixth Form and later a Student Ambassador during University.
For 2 years at University of Surrey I worked as a Student Ambassador in the Outreach and Recruitment team where I put together powerpoint presentations and visited my high school to teach students of varying ages about higher education and the student experience.
I also took part in the year 8 education week where I taught students a range of scientific content, engaging them in biology, chemistry and physics.
Additionally, I mentored AS-Level students from deprived and underrepresented groups on their summer school trip to the university, encouraging them to pursue higher education in the science field. I was responsible for a group of 6 students who I helped during the lectures to further explain difficult content.
I also continued to mentor these students in the following months after the summer school to assist them with their assignments, CVs and university applications.
