Information about Elena

I have been tutoring part-time for over three years, I have a wide range of experience and I am confident tutoring all ages and abilities. I tutored online throughout the pandemic and have a good understanding of how lockdown affected pupils learning, working with 8 students to complete their GCSEs and A-levels in 2021.
I am a University of Birmingham graduate with a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences and a major in Mathematics currently working as a User Experience Specialist.
I have dyslexia which meant I found English very difficult in school. This has helped me to understand what it is like to dislike a subject which you have no choice to study and how disheartening that can be.

Availability: I am available every weekday from 4 onwards and Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: One-to-one Tutoring:
I have been tutoring pupils for SATs, Year 9 Maths, Maths GCSE, Maths A-level and Engineering BTEC. These students were of varying abilities who were not doing as well as they should in their studies and benefitted from one hour long tutor session to go over any material they did not understand.
I either go through their homework with them, if they are finding it difficult, or if there is a particular concept they want to go over I explain it to them and set them practice questions to build up their knowledge and confidence. I find working one-to-one a very effective way to improve understanding and confidence in the subject as I learn the best ways to explain topics to my students and find ways to make maths enjoyable for them.

Group Tutoring:
I worked for ######## which taught students of all ages and abilities from 4-14 in groups of six. Although I found this a rewarding experience, I did not feel it provided the best learning experience for the students, as they could not focus on a topic they are particularly struggling with.

Teaching in School:
I worked as a Maths teaching assistant as part of four week internship with Droitwich Spa High School where I supported classes from year 7 to year 13 in the run up to their summer exams and I assisted with revision classes in addition to everyday classes.
