I am a skilled teacher with sound ability to engage learners in order to attain successful outcomes. As a literacy specialist with a BA (Hons) in English, I`m able to assist students in their reading and writing to become proficient. I have a post graduate diploma in teaching literacy. I`m also an examiner for the new specification English GCSE. Experience teaching OCR, Edexcel and AQA.
I have designed and delivered both class based and online courses for a wide range of learners. I have worked with learners from primary school age to GCSE and Adult learners.
I teach currently GCSE English and English literature.
I have a full and enhanced DBS.
I have a friendly manner and have the ability to make students feel at ease in order to ensure learning takes place.
Please note prices stated are just for one subject. If you require both language and literature I`ll be able to tutor each subject.

I offer weekly and fortnightly lessons in groups or one to one.
Availability: Weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Very approachable and has been really helping our son gain confidence needed to resit his english GCSE. Worth noting the profile indicates face to face option, but this isn`t something Barbara has offered since COVID. Initially the reason we chose Barbara was because she lived very close to us.

Barbara is an excellent tutor. She assessed my son before tutoring sessions began. She has devised a teaching plan whereby concepts are broken down into understandable components and has been a Fabulous help with our son, who is now enjoying English lessons. Always on time and organised. Great learning content and she is patient and has good rapport with my son.
