I am a First Class Degree holding student at Oxford University, and a current Masters student at the University of Bristol. At Oxford, I was a choral and instrumental scholar (specialising in the violin), and musical director of the Oxford Belles - Oxford`s original all female a capella group. The music course at Oxford offered a wide range of subjects to study from composition to Global Hip Hop and I loved studying all areas of the music world, whilst exploring different ways of approach and analysis. To understand and enjoy history of music you have to look to other areas - my love of the visual arts informs my own understanding and I enjoy bringing these worlds together. An active member of the college music society, I have also held the role of gender equality officer at Oxford and love working with and talking to other people. Communicative skills are important to me and I know that I can enthuse and encourage younger students especially in their music and history of art studies. At school I found that having one-to-one tutorials in my music studies was incredibly helpful in deepening my musical knowledge and my ability to communicate my ideas - I would work to help school students to develop their own confidence in this way and further deepen their understanding of their subject. This would inevitably help them in their own academic study, schoolwork and hopefully exams!

Experience: I have been playing the violin, piano and singing for more than 15 years and have taught students - both in their practical music and academic studies - from the age of 8-18 for the past 6 years. As a violin teacher, I have taught a wide of students with abilities ranging from beginner to intermediate, whilst as an academic tutor I have taught students at primary school, GCSE, A Level, Pre-University and Foundation level. Some of the areas I have tutored in include History of Art, Art and Music Analysis, Theory, Musicology, Music history, Composition as well as practical musicianship.
