Information about Wim

I am a final year PhD student at Imperial College London, studying laser Physics (I build lasers). I did an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. This means I have done A LOT of Maths! But more importantly, I have loads of experience with Maths and Physics in practical application.

Having gone through the entire education system, there are some things I would change about the way I learnt and appreciated Maths and Physics. The "why" often alluded me. Many students struggle with the "why" because Maths is often presented in a very abstract way.

I don`t just want to help students pass their exams, I also want to share my passion for Maths by giving examples of where I have used Maths and where it can be found in everyday life, from basic to complicated, and how it all fits together. This will help students ace their exams and actually understand the subject, rather than just repeating something they heard.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I taught at a Gifted and Talented Saturday Maths school program for Year 5s from 2017-2019, which is part of the Southwark Community Education Charity. The classes were all about presenting maths in a fun, practical manner.
