I teach both maths and English to children aged 4-8 (Reception to Year 4). I also teach Year 5 if they are working below expected level.

How much of tutoring is about academics? A large part; another key aspect is about inspiring a child to love life and learning, developing confidence, taking risks and witnessing their personal results. And so the upward spiral continues.

As a fully qualified teacher with 30+ years’ experience from outstanding schools within the state and independent sectors, your child will receive excellent teaching. Your son/daughter is your `baby` who deserves for us to offer them the very best, academically and pastorally.

I tutor children in a calm, friendly and positive manner, setting high yet realistic expectations. Children I have taught have experienced significant success and made very good progress leading to school awards for improvement, confidence and/or achievement.

During term time, lessons are weekly from Monday to Thursday. Holiday lessons are also available separately.

Excellent references are readily provided, with all parents happy to talk to you. All families I have worked with have been extremely pleased with the work their children have been doing with me - and many have recommended me to friends.

With both parents and children, I have a good rapport, believing that a positive working relationship with the family is essential. I provide tailor-made lessons and am happy to work with you, concentrating on certain aspects of learning that between us we feel are necessary for improvement.

Small group lessons (with a maximum of 3 children) £28.00 per hour.

An initial 1:1 introductory lesson is £55.

Experience: The last 30+ years have been spent as a primary school class teacher, in both state and independent schools, and for the last fouteen years I have been doing supply teaching and tutoring children from Reception up to Year 4 (and Year 5 if working below expected level).

Most of my work is by word of mouth, which always speaks volumes, and is a great encouragement.
