I have taught Geography A level for over 30 year. I pride myself on being an excellent teacher and see supporting young people as my vocation want all students to thrive. I always have taken a student-centred approach to my teaching and support roles. I see my role as one of providing students with the skills and confidence to be independent in their learning. I see students as individuals and know the importance of understanding their needs and working with them to help them overcome any obstacles they may face, and to reach their goals.


Helen’s enthusiasm and depth of knowledge greatly enhanced my learning at SCC and further inspired me to go on to study Geography at undergraduate degree level. Helen developed her students by producing and teaching a curriculum that was both engaging, relevant and challenging. Helen is a fantastic teacher and an inspiration to her students. Helen taught an engaging A Level Curriculum and supported all her students to excel in their exams. She was a credit to Salford City College. She is passionate about her subject and her teaching, which shines through to her students knowledge development. Experience: I have taught A level Geography for over 30 years, and AQA GCSE 2020-25. I have delivered the whole of the AS and A level specifications to year 12 and 13 students and therefore have an excellent knowledge of all topic areas. I have a very good understanding of the A level mark schemes and have been an examiner for Edexcel Geography A level for a number of years. As well as teaching Geography A level I have also taught Btec Travel and Tourism and Unit 1 of the Btec Children`s Play and Development course. In addition I have much experience helping students with their UCAS applications forms, in particular, assisting with their personal statements.
