Experience: My passion and enjoyment of teaching developed during 8 years in scientific research. My teaching role at the university included planning and running tutorials, practical laboratory training and marking write-ups.

To pass on my passion for science, I have run workshops at a local primary school to help develop children’s interest in science in a fun and engaging way. This involved explaining what DNA is to young learners in a way that they can understand, followed by a practical demonstration of how to extract DNA from fruit! I am also a parent to two primary school-aged children and enjoy exploring science with them.

I have experience of working in both healthcare and scientific research. This has given me a unique perspective and knowledge of both fields, including how to optimise the learning of subject material. I look forward to supporting my students wherever they are in their educational journey.
