*Qualified Secondary Teacher in Geography*

Hello, I am Aneeka! I have attained a First Class Degree in MA (Hons) Geography from Heriot-Watt University (2023) and I have finished my PGDE for Secondary Teaching (Geography) at the University of Edinburgh. I am currently a high school teacher for Geography.

Experience: During my six-week placement at Holyrood RC High School, I taught S1–S3 Broad General Education. This includes S1 (Local Area), S2 Modern Studies (Syrian Crisis), and S3 Physical Geography (Coasts). I was able to create a stimulating and inclusive environment. Moreover, during my time at Beeslack High School, I taught the Natural Hazards (Physical Geography) unit with S3 pupils. My organisational and creative skills allowed me to create engaging lessons which students appreciated due to receiving multiple positive feedback. Within this placement, I gained hands-on experience by independently leading an entire unit that followed an end-of-unit assessment. This gave me a chance to mark students papers and provide constructive feedback to improve their academic progress.

Beyond my PGDE, a standout experience was my involvement in the Royal Geography Society Ambassador programme. Collaborating within a group, I had the privilege to craft and deliver engaging online Geography sessions tailored for a diverse classroom, consisting both National 5 and Higher Pupils at St. Kentigern`s Academy.

I believe it is important for the learner to feel comfortable, so I am happy to adapt my teaching style to cater for their learning requirements by creating personalised lessons for each individual.

My lessons entail of lesson starters where I included a recap on previous lessons to increase pupils retention and also practice retrieval knowledge . The main task would consist of building a deeper understanding. The lessons would also be followed by a content review to check their understanding and ask questions. Each lesson can be altered according to the learner.
