Information about Alma
I am a Veterinary Surgeon based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I read Natural Sciences, Newnham College, University of Cambridge (first class honours) followed by Veterinary Medicine (VetMB MRCVS) in which I achieved a merit in farm animal studies and the award for best final year companion animal research project.
My earlier academic achievements include 12A* at GCSE (I was given the award for best academic achievement in my year group for 2 years running) and A* (Biology) AAA for A level (Chemistry, Maths and French). I am fluent in French and German.
I rowed with Newnham College Boat club for three years. Through rowing, I juggled training sessions eight times weekly with studying at an academically rigorous university. I have experience involving teamwork and organisation, as demonstrated by me being Regatta Secretary for Newnham College Boat Club and in this role organising the Newnham Short Course (a Cambridge rowing regatta involving over 80 rowing crews).
Most importantly, I understand how stressful and hard it is to revise for exams, as none of my achievements have come to me easily but have involved lots of hard work. My hobbies include running, climbing and cycle touring.
