I’m Oliver, a qualified English teacher (QTS, PGCE) with a passion for my subject and an approachable and engaging teaching style. In addition to teaching/tutoring, I’m a published author of various books and articles and understand the importance of form, language and structure, and how students can best achieve their potential in both Literature and Language.

Experience: I`m a qualified secondary school English teacher (QTS, PGCE) based in Hastings, with three years’ experience teaching key stages 3 and 4 (years 7-11). I`m passionate about my subject and have an approachable and engaging teaching style. As a tutor, I work with each student individually - both online or in-person - to understand their needs and goals, adapting my lessons accordingly, with clear learning objectives that allow for change and flexibility, in addition to short homework tasks that help embed those objectives between sessions, while also creating a safe and friendly learning environment to help students grow in confidence, not only with regard to the subject, but in how they express themselves and their ideas. Fully acquainted with the English curriculum and numerous exam boards, including Edexcel and Eduqas, I can plug gaps in overall knowledge, aid students with their reading and writing skills, or focus on specific areas of the subject that need improving, with GCSE exam preparation in mind.
