Hello - my name is Laura, I`m an experienced tutor and have been tutoring privately for around 4 years and completing voluntary STEM Ambassador work in schools. I have recently re-registered to continue my STEM work in Cumbria.
I hold a degree in Nuclear Physics, and 6.5 A-levels with AAA in Physics, Maths and Further Maths (along with Chemistry, Biology, English Literature and General Studies).
I like to produce a work-pack for my students as part of the service based on what I think they need to practice after I have tutored them, and also to encourage them to take control of their own learning and development. I believe in value for money when you hire me as a tutor, so I attempt to provide advice & mentoring if required alongside pushing academic excellence. I have worked with extremely talented young people to push them higher, as well as students aiming to improve their grades and those with learning difficulties. I avoid a one-size-fits-all approach and work with students to achieve their full potential.
Special examination preparation short-term tuition is available.
Availability: Weekday evenings & weekends
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have a degree in Nuclear Physics, and completed a PHD placement in NMR Spectroscopy.
I am a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) ambassador which requires going into schools and teaching students about STEM subjects in creative ways. I have been tutoring both in and out of schools for about 3-4 years now, and I particularly enjoy pushing able students even further and helping less able or less interested students to catch up and get interested!
Students with learning difficulties are most welcome - I have worked with concentration difficulties (including ADHD) and certain mental health issues.
