Information about Katie
Hello. I`m Katie, a PhD candidate studying Cancer Biology at King`s College London. I have benefited hugely from passionate teachers during my career, and my teaching style reflects my desire to pay this forward. I believe that the only effective way to teach is to foster both enthusiasm and confidence. I teach with patience and clarity, and truly believe that any student can become an exceptional student with the right teacher. Every student has a different learning style and I therefore requires a different teaching style. As such my teaching is responsive to their individual needs.
Availability: I`m fully booked up until the end of November! From December onwards I should have availability in the evenings and at weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Science has always been my focus and my passion. On top of 3 years of my PhD, I have two masters degrees and a BSc. I completed the International Baccalaureate in sixth form and received straight A`s for my GCSEs. Over my career I have studied many aspects of biology and chemistry including genetics, cell biology, immunology, atomic chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry and many more.
In 2017 I received teacher training from Kings College London and have taught throughout my PhD. Both in seminars and tutorials with groups of all sizes and on a one-to-one level, with students ranging from 14-24. I have loved each of these experiences and relish the opportunity to cultivate learning in these students. As a result, many of the students Ive taught have gone on to perform highly in their respective qualifications. I also have considerable experience in helping students with both university applications and CVs and personal statements for entering work.
Additionally, I have an excellent track record in communication. I was a finalist in the national 3-minute-thesis competition in 2018 ([contact detail removed]) and host a science-based podcast.
