Information about Max

Hi everyone!

After 3 months, what goals would you and your child like to achieve? It is my job to make them happen.

Before deciding to take my love of learning to the West coast of Canada, I learned to teach in a public school in London, United Kingdom. It was a challenging and demanding teaching environment which developed my classroom management and pedagogical skills. Wanting international experience, I then became a British Columbia (Canada), certified teacher and moved out there for 2 years, where I taught in one of the top private schools on the West coast, and then in a rural school with high ethnic diversity and indigenous culture. The experiences were invaluable, and I look to bring all my knowledge and experience to my practice, back here in the UK.

My specialty is in science, specifically biology, which I teach up to degree level. I have since taken on subjects in Humanities, English, Outdoor Education, Physical Education and Mathematics. I also teach sex education, critical thinking and take on mental health classes.

I have an open and honest approach to teaching. I expect students to take responsibility for their own learning and in return I take responsibility for being adaptable and proactive.

Failure is essential to learning and creating a growth mindset, so I encourage resilience in failure, and ensure that the space we share for learning is safe, non-judgmental and challenging.

I do more than help people pass exams.
