I am a passionate maths teacher with 10 years of classroom-teaching experience (currently on a career break as I have two little ones) and 25 years of tutoring experience. As a tutor, my aim is to help my students improve and gain confidence in their mathematical knowledge and understanding. Lessons are topic-focused with a clear objective and planned to suit the student’s individual needs and contain a mixture of skills practice and problem-solving questions. When introducing a new concept, I use a questioning approach which gives my students the opportunity to self-discover how to solve a particular problem. As Einstein once said “I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn”.

With so much maths content available online, students can easily feel overwhelmed and lose focus when studying independently. I help my students to streamline their revision by splitting it into two phases. The first phase usually takes around 4-6 months during which I support my students to work through a revision workbook at GCSE, or at AS/A level through their textbook. At the end of this phase students will have a solid foundation in the specification and be ready to move onto the second phase which is when we tackle past papers.

I build positive working relationships with my students, all of whom have always progressed by at least one grade in the time that I have tutored them. Both of my A level students last year achieved A grades, one of whom was re-sitting having achieved a C the previous year.

I believe that anyone who is determined to progress in maths and is willing to work hard will improve, and I am committed to helping my students achieve their goals.

Availability: Weekdays: 4-5:30, 6:30-8 pm
Saturdays: 10 am to 12 pm, 3-5 pm
Sundays: 10 am to 12 pm

Experience: I have 10+ years tutoring experience and 8 years experience teaching Maths at a highly successful grammar school. I have helped hundreds of students achieve the grade they aspire to in Maths at GCSE and A level. I also have experience teaching further Maths A level.
