Julia

Hello! My name is Julia and I am a languages teacher and previous Head of Languages, with 16 years of teaching experience. I have an MA (Hons) from the University of St. Andrews and a PGCE from the University of Bristol. I spent 1 year studying at university in Grenoble, France and spent 2 years living in Germany. I am passionate about languages and travel, and am consequently a lifelong learner of languages, as well as a teacher. I am currently learning conversational Greek and studying for an MSc.

As both teacher and student, I am aware of the demands of the GCSE, AS, A2 and IB examinations. I endeavour to make even the most challenging parts of the course interesting and engaging, and work hard to build students` confidence so that they enjoy speaking a foreign language.

Availability: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 09:00 - 21:00

Experience: I have taught French and German in secondary schools for 16 years, delivering both languages from Yr7 through to A2. I have also taught IB French (at ab initio and standard levels), and have tutored outside school and worked with primary age pupils at language festivals.

My students` exam results are consistently excellent, and a large proportion of my AS students carry on to A2 and then complete language degrees. Many former students have gone on to study at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge. I am an approved examiner for GCSE and A-Level with 2 exam boards.
