Specialist in individual online tuition, primarily for GCSE and A level Chemistry, supplementing school/college lessons, particularly since schooling has been missed during the Covid-19 pandemic. I also tutor students who are retaking A level exams, as well as tutoring mature students.

I am a well-qualified, enthusiastic teacher, having taught Chemistry for 26 years in mainstream education. I have also tutored students, on an individual basis, for the past 16 years.
I believe that one-to-one tuition provides a unique opportunity for students. While some students simply need reinforcement of particular Chemistry topics, I have found that it allows many students to ask questions and discuss particular topics that can sometimes be difficult to resolve in a classroom setting, giving them the space and time to gain confidence in quiet surroundings, without the distraction of fellow pupils. Also, it is an opportunity to concentrate on in-depth analysis of topics that are sometimes not fully covered in class, but which are essential for A star students, as well as providing time for analysis of exam paper questions and improvement in exam techniques. In addition to reinforcing material which is being covered in the current academic year, I am experienced in assisting students who may not have reached their full potential in previous exams and who need help and support for re-sits. Theory and practical topics are fully covered.

I have an approachable, friendly, yet professional manner, that has helped students to succeed over many years. I have taught GCSE, A-level and Access (adult returner) courses in local schools and colleges. I am fully conversant with all current Chemistry syllabuses, including the new A level syllabus, and am CRB/DBS checked.

Now tutoring exclusively online, I have a wide range of resources available, including handouts, question sheets on specific topics, past examination papers etc., which I can share online.
