Information about Greg

I am currently working part-time as a literary agent with WGM Atlantic. I have first-class Undergraduate and Master`s degrees in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History from Oxford University. I am friendly and enthusiastic and love discussing English, History, Biology and all things ancient or archaeology.

I grew up in Malawi and Manchester. I gained 10 A* at GCSE and 3A* and an A at A-Level. I then studied at Lincoln College in Oxford. In September 2019 I returned to Manchester after a two month archaeological excavation at the ancient Greek-Roman city of Aphrodisias in south-west Turkey.

I have spent two summers working with Oxford Royale Academy, a summer school based in Oxford. This involved being a counsellor for 13-15 and 16-18 year old students. This experience included the chance to teach some English and History lessons to 16-18 year old students. I really enjoyed this and I like working with young people and organising creative and clear lessons. I have also volunteered in the family departments of the Manchester Museum and Museum of Science and Industry.

Since I returned to Manchester I tutored two students. I taught an archaeology Undergrad and a History A-Level Student.

I have experienced the challenge of applying to universities, including Oxford.

I provide clear and engaging materials and guide students by offering friendly encouragement. I believe confidence is key with learning and the best approach is usually to encourage the student to take an interest. I am familiar with syllabus requirements.

Availability: I am immediately available.

I am available all week.

Willing to travel: 12 miles

Experience: My initial teaching experience came when I taught creative writing and anthropology classes to 16-18 year old students whilst working for the Oxford Royale Academy summer schools in Oxford in 2017.

I have a varied background of working with young people, including volunteering with the Manchester Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry.

I have a BA and masters degree in classical archaeology and ancient history from Oxford University.

So far I have tutored Undergrad Archaeology and A-Level History.
