Information about Shelley
I am passionate about sport and exercise science, and I hope to share this with students to allow them to better understand their specifications. I have extensive experience with teaching and coaching both via tutoring, working in a school, and in many difference sports. I pride myself on my distinct teaching style, revolving around fun and interactive practices, ensuring that concepts are understood and can be applied, rather than the memorisation of a marking sheet. I hope to not only improve knowledge of content but ensure maximum confidence levels of exam technique.

Experience: I began teaching swimming eleven years ago, starting as an assistant and moving up to lead teacher status. As part of this I have taught hundreds, if not thousands, of babies, children, and adults, how to swim. This incredibly rewarding job was made even better when I began specialising in the teaching of children and adults with various learning difficulties. This saw me coaching some swimmers up to National-level.
When I started at Loughborough University I transitioned to also coaching elite swimmers on the University team, and then coaching the development Cheerleading team. During my time at Loughborough University I achieved a 2:1 in BSc Sport and Exercise Science, and a Merit in MSc Exercise Physiology. I also completed a placement year within the Nutrition Research Group, where my lab work contributed to two scientific publications.
I previously worked as a SEN teaching assistant in a secondary school leading to my current role as a researcher. I have great success in tutoring a range of GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC qualifications, with over 400 lessons completed.

Shelly was a fantastic choice for our family. She diligently, clearly and proactively covered the GCSE syllabus and instilled knowledge and confidence in our student. From mock result to final grade we saw a +4 grade level improvement and are liaising with our school on a remark as we are only 2 marks of a +5 grade level improvement. Thank you so much Shelly!!!

It was great to find Shelley as a Tutor in Sports Science and she has really helped my son gain some focus in the run up to his Year 12 Btec Nutrition and Anatomy exams. Shelly was good at communicating with me as a parent as well as being prompt / reliable with lessons booked.

My daughter had online lessons with Shelley to help her prepare for her PE GCSE; She found the one to one lessons really helpful and feels she is much better prepared than if she tried to revise the topics on her own. Shelley was very friendly and approachable and we will continue to use her right up until the exam.

Shelly has been teaching my son Lucas GCSE P.E. The lessons are outstanding and he is improving rapidly. Shelly creates amazing slides for each topic covered; which he uses for revision. He’s also improving his exam response verbally and on paper. Lucas states lessons differ from school as he gains a full understanding of the topic and is able to apply knowledge confidentiality in his school lessons now. Lucas actually feels confident and prepared for assessments or exams. This is a huge turnaround. Shelly also encourages him to answer questions throughout lesson, something he admits he avoids when at school. Home work is issued and worked through during lessons . Thank you Shelly!

Shelley tutoring has been the best thing for my daughter. Her confidence is increasing with her understanding of the work. Shelley is happy work work at my daughter’s pace- we occasionally skip a lesson to make sure she’s happy before moving on to another topic.
