Information about Joanna
I recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering (via Natural Sciences) from the University of Cambridge, having achieved a Double First Class (i.e. a First Class grade in every year of my course). My focus is helping primary school, Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level students who are studying Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics to be comfortable with the scientific concepts and to practice applying them to problems. My friendly and approachable nature enables me to work and communicate effectively with tutees throughout my sessions. I aim to develop the confidence and enthusiasm my students have for their subjects by having engaging discussions, working through examples together and tackling questions. I start by identifying what each individual hopes to get out of tutoring, so that I can tailor my lessons to their needs and ensure they receive a flexible and personalised tutoring experience designed for their success.
Availability: I am available Monday - Sunday between the hours of 10.00am to 10.00pm.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am a reliable and organised person and am fluent with numbers, having completed A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics (along with Physics, Chemistry and Economics) during 6th Form. Having achieved 100% A*-A in these subjects, I have extensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts and am well equipped to explain them to others. Not only that, but in my end of year exams I attained a first class and was ranked 4th in the year at Cambridge.
During my A Levels, I invested time in tutoring students on a one-to-one basis at my local homework club. Across my years at university, I went on to privately tutor several students over a number of weeks in time for their exams or over the summer months ready for the new academic year - they all returned to school with their understanding and confidence in their ability boosted. I would always start by identifying what each individual hopes to get out of the sessions, so that I can tailor my approach to their needs and ensure they receive a flexible and personalised tutoring experience designed for their success. Through these experiences Ive been able to help students to better understand topics they are struggling with and have enjoyed seeing them maximise their potential.
